PLOVER, Wis. (WSAW) - The driver of a semi-truck that caught fire Thursday morning is safe. The cab caught fire around 11:20 a.m. in the north lanes of I-39 just south of Highway 54.

Sergeant Rob Hamilton from the Portage County Sheriff’s Office said the semi was hauling cotton seed at the time of the fire.

The fire was extinguished around 11:50 a.m. Traffic was reduced to one lane until a wrecker could remove the damaged semi. All lanes of traffic were reopened at 2:17 p.m.

The Wisconsin Department does have a camera in that location, however, only smoke could be seen due to the vehicle’s location. The cause remains under investigation by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
