Vehicle fire causing restriction on I-81 in Cumberland County

The car can be seen engulfed in flames on the side of the northbound lanes Friday evening.

Update: As of 7:45 p.m. the vehicle fire has been cleared and traffic is flowing smoothly on I-81.

A vehicle fire on I-81 north in Cumberland County is causing a lane restriction Friday evening, according to PennDOT.

The fire is about one mile north of Exit 61 for PA 944 - Wertzville Road, 511PA says.

The vehicle fire can be seen on 511PA.com about one mile north of exit 61 for Wertzville Road on I-81 north.

PennDOT last updated the fire at 5:49 p.m. and it is not clear at this time how long the restriction will be in place.

A video submitted to PennLive from a witness shows the car and nearby brush on the side of the northbound lanes fully engulfed in flames.

It is unknown if there are any injuries stemming from the fire.
