I-10 westbound at Whiskey Bay now back open

IBERVILLE —- I-10 westbound is back open at mile marker 129.6 after a vehicle fire shut down the interstate westbound around 5pm.

A truck that was towing two additional 18-wheeler trucks without the trailers, caught on fire.

No injuries were reported but the interstate was completely shut down westbound over Whiskey Bay.

Iberville Fire Department responded to the scene as well as the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office.

All drivers were routed to Hwy. 190 as an alternate route for nearly five hours as officials responded and cleaned up the fire scene.

The smoke could be seen from miles away as officials responded and got the fire under control.

The cause of the fire has not been released at this time.
