Officials have confirmed that a 27-year-old inmate from Cumberland County Prison has died following a medical event.

The male inmate initially had the event on Thursday night, where he was revived by prison and medical staff. The staff evaluated and treated him in the medical unit, then transported the inmate to an area hospital.

He was pronounced dead on Friday, May 19, at 11:04 p.m.

An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning. Officials have released no further information at this time.
