According to emergency dispatch, the incident first happened at around 6:43 a.m. on I-81 between exit 24 and exit 20.
Officials say the situation caused a lane restriction that brought traffic to a screeching halt.
A happy ending to the story however, as crews say the driver was left uninjured after the spontaneous flames.
