Only one lane was open and SCDOT had set up a work zone.
South Carolina Highway Patrol was on the scene and reported the incident happened at 3:29 a.m.
Waze reported drivers had been moving an average of 1 to 5 miles per hour through that area.
It’s not clear what caused the truck to erupt in flames.
Drivers were asked to give crews plenty of room to work.

More information is expected to be released later Friday morning.
