CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — First responders from across Campbell County teamed up Monday morning to battle a blaze involving an SUV along Route 29.

Just after 3 a.m. on Monday, July 25, the Rustburg Volunteer Fire Department says crews were called to help the Evington Volunteer Fire Department fight a vehicle fire on Route 29 North near Browns Mill Road.

When units arrived at the scene, they reportedly found a Chevrolet Equinox fully-involved in flames.

As members of the Altavista Fire Company provided extra water and blocked lanes along the road, Rustburg fire officials say they managed to suppress the flames.

“If you look at the fire damage of the car it is totally burned out, but inside was a bible that was still intact and mostly unburnt,” the Rustburg Volunteer Fire Department wrote on Facebook Monday morning.

As of this writing, there is no word on the cause of this fire.
