Around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday morning, first responders received reports of a child suffering from a medical emergency on 17000 Strawberry Pine Court in Canyon Country, said Geovanni Sanchez, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

Initial reports were that the child was having a seizure.

Due to the patient requiring specialty care, a helicopter was requested to perform an airlift, according to Fire officials.

The patient was transported by ambulance to an awaiting helicopter at Fair Oaks Elementary School, according to officials.

The patient was airlifted to a specialty hospital in unknown condition, Sanchez said.

Child Airlifted After Suffering Medical Emergency

  1. I cannot believe that transporting the victim by helicopter was faster than an ambulance. The crew has to run out to the chopper at Whiteman, spool up, take off, and fly to Fair Oaks Elementary. They have to unload the patient from the ambulance then reload them in the helicopter, fly to Northridge, and drop them off. Meanwhile, Northridge Hospital is 18 minutes away by ambulance.

Last month they airlifted a hiker in Texas Canyon for a twisted ankle. I get that the helicopter is a lot of fun but it’s costing us $5K per flight hour. Probably far more now with Biden’s fuel prices. More common sense is needed here.

And yes, if it was my child I would have refused the helicopter because the ambulance would have been faster.

  2. Factors regarding high gas prices:
    Pandemic supply& demand issues
    War in Ukraine
    Price gouging
    European energy crisis
The above items contribute to high gas prices along with Biden not wanting to deregulate, sacrificing clean energy goals.

    • Stop carrying Biden’s water but it sounds like your cool getting oil from countries that cut the heads off their citizens and whose oil is much dirtier than ours. This whole thing started the day after he was sworn in on January 21 2021.Biden Harris approval ratings are lower than monkey pox.

About Louie Diaz

Louie was born and raised in Santa Clarita. At the age of two Louie lost his vision due to a brain tumor. However, Louie doesn't let blindness stop him from doing what ever it is he wants to accomplish. Growing up some of his favorite hobbies were wood working, fishing and riding bikes. Louie graduated from College of the Canyon in December of 2017, with a Broadcast Journalism degree. Growing up Louie has always wanted to be a fire fighter or a police officer, but because of his blindness Louie knew that wouldn't work. Louie has always loved listening to police and fire radio traffic, using a scanner, and he figured if he was going to listen to the scanner so much, he should do something with it.
