The East Bank Consolidated Fire Department in Jefferson Parish responded Friday afternoon to a fire in Metairie. The fire was reported at West Esplanade and Hesper Avenue. Firefighters said a vehicle was on fire and also caught a house on fire. According to a news release issued by the fire department, a home was found with a pickup truck in flames in an attached carport. Due to the size of the fire, more reinforcements were brought in to fight the fire. The home where the fire originated suffered heavy fire damage. A second home suffered moderate fire damage, according to fire officials. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation. The Red Cross was requested to assist four adult residents displaced by the fire. Nine homes are without Entergy power.
