MACON, Ga. (WGXA) -- A tractor-trailer caught on fire on I-75 in Macon early Monday morning.

Macon-Bibb Fire Chief Shane Edwards says crews were called to I-75 southbound at the Hardeman Ave. Exit around 2:39 a.m.

The fire started in the back of the truck.

Chief Edwards says crews were able to put the fire out in time to keep it from spreading to the rest of the truck.

Investigators believe the fire started due to a mechanical malfunction within the trailer.

There were no injuries.
