Crews contained the fire, which impacted traffic on surface streets and I-80, I-880 and I-580 as smoke poured into the air. It happened at about 4 p.m.

Oakland fire officials tweeted that three RVs "completely burned" inside a lot just below the roadway.

No one was hurt. Two dogs were found dead inside one of the RVs. Three people were displaced because of the fire. The RVs were reportedly parked in a lot managed by the City of Oakland and Operation Dignity, which helps house homeless persons.

Wood Street remains closed between 19th Street and 34th Street, fire officials said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Oakland police are assisting.
