Car fire on I-95 in Providence slows traffic

A car fire on I-95 in Providence caused traffic to slow down on Feb. 8, 2022. (WJAR){ }

A vehicle fire on I-95 in Providence slowed down traffic Monday night.

The incident happened just before 11:00 p.m. Monday night on the southbound lanes near Exit 23.
According to the Rhode Island State Police Department, the fire started after a rear-end collision.
Police say the second vehicle became fully engulfed.
The drivers of both vehicles were transported to Rhode Island Hospitals after complaining of pain.
At the time, all lanes were closed due to the fire and the first vehicle becoming disabled in the high-speed lane, say police.
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation said the incident was cleared before midnight.

Police say no arrests have been made.
