Update at 9:10 p.m. on 1/4/2022 — All lanes of Route 54 have been reopened.
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — Part of Route 54 in Springfield is closed because of a car fire near Brickler Road.
State troopers said the road will be closed for “an extended period of time” to allow for the car to be removed from the scene. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and take an alternate route of travel.
