PIERCE - A Lexington Public Schools charter bus is a total loss after it caught fire while parked at Pierce High School Saturday morning.

According to Pierce Fire Chief Steve Dolesh, once fire personnel were on scene, the fire was already going up the side of the bus.

The fire started in the center of bus, extended into the interior, and caught the cloth seats on fire which caused it to spread faster.

There were no injuries as no one was on or around the bus and the cause of it is being investigated by the Nebraska State Fire Marshal.

The Pierce Fire Department received mutual aid from the Pierce Police Department, Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, and Hadar Fire and Rescue.
