CHAPEL HILL, Texas (KETK) – Firefighters found the body of an elderly woman after a house fire in the Chapel Hill area on Friday.

The house was in the 1500 block of Rolling Pines Drive. First responders received a call about the fire around 12:23 p.m.

The woman has not been identified yet. The fire was possibly an accident, and it originated in the same room where the victim was found, according to Smith County Fire Marshal Jay Brooks.

First responders were still at the scene around 3:00 p.m. Jackson Heights Volunteer Fire Department and the Chapel Hill Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene.

Firefighters were seen working on the outside of the house, and the scene was taped off.
