UPDATE 6:20 p.m.: A vehicle fire on Route 29 south near Danville has been cleared.


UPDATE 5:40 p.m.: VDOT says that the crash on Route 501 in Rustburg has been cleared; however, the vehicle fire on Route 29 southbound near Danville continues to be causing issues.

VDOT continues to indicate that one southbound lane of Route 29 by the split with the Franklin Turnpike Extension is still closed.

Delays can still be expected if traveling in this area.


UPDATE 4:15 p.m.: Below are updates on both traffic issues that we are following.

Route 29 south near Danville

A vehicle fire continues causing problems along Route 29 south north of Danville.

VDOT says there are lane closures in place in the area of the Franklin Turnpike Extention’s onramp.

Delays can be expected in this area.

Route 501 south in Rustburg

A crash is causing major issues on Route 501 in Rustburg in the area of the intersection with Route 24.

Backups are reported to be nearly one mile.

Drivers can expect significant delays if traveling in this area.


(WFXR) – Two separate incidents are causing problems for drivers in parts of the region.

Route 29 south near Danville

A vehicle fire has closed all southbound lanes of Route 29 at the intersection with Route 41 just north of Danville.

Drivers should find another route around this incident.

Route 501 south in Rustburg

A crash has closed all southbound lanes of Route 501 in Rustburg.

VDOT says the crash is located near Kabler Lane.

Traffic is being flagged through the northbound lanes.

Drivers can expect delays if traveling in this area.
