Crews make short work of Marple car fire that extended to house

Delaware County fire crews responded shortly after midnight Sunday to the 100 block of Lindbergh Avenue in Marple Township for a vehicle fire in a driveway that had begun to spread to the house.

The first fire officer on scene described the car as “well off” with flames and extension to the garage of the house, according to emergency radio traffic.

Most of the flames were declared knocked down within five minutes, the fire was put under control five minutes later with the overhaul commencing about five minutes later.

Broomall Fire Company had this information on social media:

“Shortly before midnight Broomall Fire Co. was alerted to a vehicle fire in the 100 blk of Lindbergh Ave, Marple Twp.

“Initial arriving units encountered a well-involved passenger vehicle with fire extending to the main residence, which upgraded the assignment to a working residential house fire.

“The fire was quickly brought under control and units cleared within a couple hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.”

The post listed the assisting responders as Newtown Square, Manoa, Brookline and Garrettford-Drexel Hill fire companies; with the Marple Township Ambulance Corps and the township police department as well.
