LPS bus catches fire and is quickly put out by crews training nearby

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — At least seven units raced to put out a fire that tore through the front of an LPS bus Friday morning.

This happened at the parking lot of the district’s transportation department on Park Boulevard.  The first report came in around 10:20 a.m.

Lincoln Fire & Rescue said its crews were training nearby when the call came in, so they were able to get to it quickly.

The bus that caught fire had a history of mechanical problems and was already removed from service, LFR said.

No other vehicles were involved, and no one was hurt.

The damage is still being assessed, so it’s not clear how much repairs will cost.
