UPDATE: Driver survives after semi overturns, catches fire in Jackson

UPDATE (5/26/23 12:25 p.m.): The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirms the wreck resulted in a non-fatal injury for the driver, who is a Tennessee resident. According to a preliminary report, the wreck occurred around 10:13 a.m. on Wednesday on the Exit 80B ramp. The report states:

Vehicle 1 was traveling west on Interstate 40, exiting at mile marker 80B. While on the exit ramp, Vehicle 1 then overturned and caught fire.

According to the Jackson Fire Department, “the quick actions of passing motorists saved the life of the truck driver as they pulled her from the burning cab several minutes before it became fully involved.”

JACKSON, Tenn. — A vehicle fire in north Jackson caused concerns Wednesday morning.

Around 10 a.m., a tractor-trailer could be seen overturned and engulfed in flames on the Highway 45 Bypass near Walmart and Sam’s Club.

First responders, including police, medical and fire, could be seen at the scene near the exit ramp.

According to WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Tipsters, traffic was delayed as crews worked to extinguish the flames and clear the scene.

According to the Jackson Police Department via the Atlas 1 app, an injury has been reported.

No other details were immediately available.
