Truck fire that closed I-78 in New Jersey still causing delays

An early morning truck fire on Interstate 78 was still causing delays April, 21, 2023, into the morning commute in Hunterdon County.

An early morning truck fire on Interstate 78 in New Jersey was still causing delays during the Friday morning commute.

A witness said they called in the blaze at about midnight on I-78 East near exit 13 in Union Township, Hunterdon County.

The highway was initially closed at about 12:30 a.m., but by 2:47 a.m. a single lane of traffic was getting by the fire scene.

By 7 a.m., eastbound drivers were still seeing traffic backups and delays. Traffic cameras show drivers at a standstill at times near the Warren County line.
