Ohio State Highway Patrol: 1 dead following vehicle fire in Geneva Township

ASHTABULA COUNTY, Ohio — Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are investigating after a vehicle fire left one person dead.

OSHP officials say that the fatal vehicle fire happened on Lake Road, just east of Countyline Road in Geneva Township at around 1 a.m. on Sunday. 

Upon arriving at the scene, troopers found a green 2014 Chevrolet Cruze fully engulfed in flames. After fire crews put out the flames, an occupant was found deceased in the driver's seat. 

According to OSHP, the vehicle was partially disabled in the roadway at the time of the fire. 

At this time, the investigation is ongoing, and the driver has not yet been identified.
