Two injured in tractor-trailer crash, fire on Enfield-Suffield Veterans Bridge

ENFIELD, Conn. (WTNH) — Two people were injured in a crash between a car and tractor-trailer on the Enfield-Suffield Veterans Bridge Friday morning.

Suffield police responded to the crash around 12:15 a.m. on Rt. 190.

Thompsonville Fire Department Chief David Deskis said the department arrived on scene with Suffield crews to find a tractor-trailer engulfed in flames.

Extensive fuel spilled from the tractor-trailer, which had its saddle tank ripped-off due to the collision, Deskis said.

Officials said two people were injured during the crash, with one suffering from serious injuries.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) is on scene assisting.

The bridge was closed in both directions while police and fire crews were on-scene investigating, but has since re-opened.
