JACKSON COUNTY—One person died in an accident just before 5:30p.m. Tuesday in Jackson County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 1999 Jeep Cherokee driven by Preston M. Goins, 61, Concordia, Mo., was eastbound on Interstate 70 just west of the Oak Grove exit. The driver suffered an unknown medical event.
The Jeep traveled uncontrolled off the right side of the road, struck a culvert and came to a stop in the grass north of the outer road.
EMS transported Goins to St. Mary's Hospital in Blue Springs where he was pronounced dead. The MSHP had incomplete seat belt usage information.
