1 dead, 1 in critical condition after Commerce City crash

DENVER (KDVR) — One man died and another man was in critical condition after a crash on U.S. Highway 85 in Commerce City Saturday morning.

According to the Commerce City Police Department, the crash happened at Highway 85 and 56th Avenue.

Police said it appeared the crashed vehicle ran a red light at a high rate of speed.

An SUV turning onto 56th Avenue, which had the right-of-way, struck the back of the car and ended up on top of the guardrail.

Two adult men were inside the struck vehicle and were taken to a local hospital. Both were initially listed as being in critical condition, but one of the men died, according to police Saturday afternoon.

The second man was reported to be still in critical condition.
