COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Two vehicles were significantly damaged after a fire started in a SUV parked outside a storage facility Tuesday morning.

According to officials on scene, someone was living in the SUV and may have been using some sort of personal heater, though the cause remains under investigation. The person was not in the vehicle when the fire started and was uninjured.

Firefighters responded to Public Storage off Pikes Peak Avenue and Academy around 9 a.m. Smoke could be seen from a few miles away as fire crews worked to get the blaze under control.

The SUV was reportedly parked next to two other vehicles, and a spokesperson with the Colorado Springs Fire Department says flames spread to a box truck.

The fire was declared under control within 20 minutes of CSFD’s arrival.
