Woman dies in Cleveland fire Wednesday morning

CLEVELAND, Ohio – A woman died in an early morning fire in the city’s Hough neighborhood Wednesday, according to Cleveland fire officials.

Cleveland firefighters responded to a house fire on East 66th Street, south of Superior Avenue, at 4:38 a.m. Wednesday, according to a post on the department’s Twitter.

An unidentified woman was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center where she died, the department said.

cleveland.com and The Plain Dealer reached out to the Cuyahoga County medical examiner’s office for information regarding the identity of the woman who died.

The fire department said a mattress in a bedroom of the residence was on fire. No additional details were immediately available.
