Update, 4:15 p.m.: Traffic is mostly back to normal.

Previously:

CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – A vehicle fire was causing traffic backups in the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 in Clarksville on Tuesday.

At 3:15 p.m., Clarksville Police were assisting Clarksville Fire Rescue with a vehicle fire on the westbound shoulder near mile marker 5, according to CPD spokesman Scott Beaubien.

Traffic has been reduced to one lane and is causing traffic congestion. Motorists are advised to find an alternate route until the roadway can be completely cleared. There are no reports of injuries.

At 3:20 p.m., traffic was backed up from mile marker 5 past Exit 8 to about mile marker 9.
