Trailer fire closes I-24 East near 84 mm

Update: One lane of I 24 East has reopened near 84 mile marker. Continue to use caution in the area.

The eastbound lanes of I-24 are closed near the 84 mile-marker this morning for cleanup of a tractor-trailer fire.

The trailer hauling food items caught fire and burned shortly before 5 a.m., with Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Andy Sanderson saying the eastbound side is shut down near the 84 while crews clean it up.

The truck driver was able to disconnect the semi from trailer to prevent it from catching fire and there are no injuries.

Several local fire departments were called to battle the blaze.
