Church bus catches fire on I-24 on Monday
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A church bus caught on fire on the interstate near Lookout Mountain on Monday.
Chattanooga firefighters have since extinguished the fire.
The bus caught on fire on I-24 westbound near Moccasin Bend and at the base of Lookout Mountain.
Drivers alerted the bus driver that the vehicle was on fire, according to the Chattanooga Fire Department.
The bus then pulled over.
While pulling the bus driver out of the vehicle, a paramedic received gashes on his arm, firefighters said.
That paramedic then went to a local hospital to be treated for injuries.
The fire department did not say if anyone else was injured.
It is also currently unclear what caused the fire.
I-24 has faced heavy traffic buildup throughout the day on Monday. But at this point, there is not much traffic near Moccasin Bend on I-24.
