Car Carrier and Six Vehicles Destroyed in Route 9 Crash Friday

A car carrier and six vehicles bound for a Calais dealership were destroyed but no one was injured in a Route 9 crash Friday, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office reported.

AMHERST — A tractor-trailer carrying a load of six new vehicles destined for a Calais dealership erupted in flames after crashing on Airline Road the morning of Friday, March 24, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office. The truck and cargo were a total loss.

The driver, Saraphin Puccetti, 54, of Baltimore, Md., was uninjured. Police said Puccetti was traveling east on the Airline when the truck, a 2023 Western Star tractor and trailer, went off the right side of the road and down an embankment, striking several trees and coming to rest on its side.
