Truck fire causes partial closure of Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge Brooklyn-bound

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A truck caused delay on the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge Brooklyn-bound late on Friday morning, according to the MTA.

The upper-level Brooklyn bound was closed for a time due to truck fire around 11:30 a.m., according to alerts by the MTA.

No injuries were reported in the incident where the emergency response lasted less than an hour, ending at 12:08 a.m., according to a spokesman for the FDNY/EMS.

“Due to a vehicle fire, all Brooklyn-bound upper level lanes of the Verrazzano Bridge are closed,” said an alert from Notify NYC. “Consider alternate routes and allow for additional travel time.”

Traffic was backed up on the Staten Island Expressway Brooklyn-bound to at least Clove Road,
