Sixty firefighters responded to a massive box truck fire on Dyre Avenue in the Eastchester section of the Bronx on Wednesday.
A box truck covered in heavy flames underneath an above ground subway track spewed black smoke into the area. The FDNY said the truck and six other parked cars caught fire.
Neighbors said they heard the fire trucks sirens and then the sound of an explosion. They ran outside and saw the box truck on fire.
The fire spread quickly, but the FDNY reacted to put a stop to it from getting worse.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority say trains are not running between East 180th Street to Dyre Avenue. The last stop on Dyre Avenue 5 bound trains is East 180th Street.
They said no word on when they would be back up and running.
