WASHTENAW COUNTY, MI -- A car fire closed one lane of I-94 traffic Monday afternoon, fire officials said.
City of Ann Arbor and Pittsfield Township fire crews were called to eastbound I-94 near Jackson Road around 1 p.m. Oct. 2, for the car fire, Chief of the Ann Arbor Fire Department Mike Kennedy said.
When crews arrived, fire and smoke were coming from the hood of the vehicle, which was on the shoulder of the freeway. There was one person confirmed in the vehicle, Kennedy said, adding that no one was injured.
The fire was caused by mechanical failure, according to fire officials.
Crews cleared the scene around 1:40 p.m.
