Truck hauling vehicles crashes, catches fire in Amherst

AMHERST, Maine (WABI) - A tractor trailer hauling a half dozen vehicles crashed and caught fire in Amherst Friday.

The crash happened on Route 9 around just after 7 a.m.

A stretch of Route 9 known as the Airline Road was closed for some time.

Officials say the driver, Saraphin Puccetti, 54, went off the road and down an embankment.

We’re told the truck caught fire following the crash and all vehicles he was carrying were totaled.

Puccetti was not hurt and no other vehicles were involved.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
